We collect as little as possible. A website about privacy that spied on its readers would be a joke. So this page is short, and it describes what actually happens rather than reserving rights we never use.
No adverts. No tracking. No analytics companies. Nothing sold to anybody, ever.
Who runs this site
DeepHiDX is run by Ehtijad Ali at deephidx.com. For anything about privacy or your data, email ehtijadalee@gmail.com.
What we collect
| What | When | Why | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic visit records — your IP address, browser, which page you opened, and the time | Every visit, automatically, like any website | Security and fixing faults | About 30 days |
| Your email address | Only if you sign up for the newsletter | To send you the newsletter, nothing else | Until you unsubscribe |
| Comment details — name, email, your comment, IP address | Only if you leave a comment | To show your comment and block spam | Until you ask us to remove it |
| Your email to us | Only if you write to us | To reply to you | As long as needed |
| Search words | If you use the search box | To show you results | Not kept beyond normal visit records |
We never ask for your name, address, phone number or payment details, because nothing on this site needs them. We do not build a profile of you, and we are not trying to work out who you are.
What we do not do
- No adverts. There is no ad network here, so no advertising cookies and nothing sold to advertisers.
- No analytics. We do not use Google Analytics or anything like it.
- No tracking pixels, no social media trackers, no fingerprinting.
- We never sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
- No following you around the web. We have no idea where you go next, and we do not want to know.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser. This site saves almost nothing:
- If you leave a comment and tick the box to be remembered, your name and email are saved so you do not have to type them again. You can say no.
- If you log in as a writer, a login cookie is set. This applies to almost nobody reading this.
- Light or dark mode. Your choice is saved in your own browser so the site does not keep switching. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it.
Just reading the site needs no cookies at all. That is why you will not see an annoying cookie pop-up here. There is nothing to agree to.
Other companies involved
We keep this list as short as we can, and this is all of it:
- Fonts. The lettering is loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google sees your IP address when a page loads. This is the only outside company that learns anything about your visit, and we are working on hosting the fonts ourselves so it stops.
- Our web host. The company whose servers run this site handles those basic visit records for us.
- Profile pictures. If comments are switched on, WordPress may fetch a profile picture using a scrambled version of the commenter email address.
We do not use outside comment systems, embedded trackers, or delivery networks that profile readers. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights under European, British, Californian or similar laws. We give these to everyone who asks, wherever they live:
- See it — ask what we hold about you.
- Fix it — have anything wrong corrected.
- Delete it — have it removed. For a newsletter signup or a comment, we just do it, no questions asked.
- Object — tell us to stop or limit what we do with it.
- Take it with you — get a copy in a normal file format.
- Change your mind — unsubscribe whenever you like, using the link in every email.
Email ehtijadalee@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days and we will not ask you to explain why. We may need to check the request really comes from you.
One honest limit: this does not mean you can have a true news article deleted because you are in it. Those requests go through our Corrections Policy, which will fix anything we got wrong.
Why we are allowed to hold this
Where European rules apply, we rely on your permission for the newsletter and comments, and on legitimate interests for the basic visit records, meaning simply keeping the site running and blocking abuse. You can object to that at any time.
Security
The whole site uses HTTPS. Access to the systems behind it is limited and protected. The main thing we do is keep almost no data, because the safest information is information you never collected.
We cannot promise nothing will ever go wrong, and any website that promises that is not being straight with you. If something does happen that affects reader data, we will say so on this site and tell the people and authorities involved.
If contacting us could be risky for you
Read the safety section on our Contact page before you send anything sensitive. Normal email is not private and it shows people who you are.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us personal details, tell us and we will delete them.
Where your data goes
Our hosting and email may be handled in other countries, including the United States. Since the only data involved is basic visit records and any email address you chose to give us, there is very little at stake, but you should know.
Links to other websites
We link to a lot of government sites, universities and research groups, listed on our Sources & Research page. Once you click away, their rules apply and ours do not. We have no control over them.
Changes to this page
If this changes in an important way, we will update the date at the top and say what changed. We will not quietly start collecting more.
Contact
